Olivia is a Brooklyn based photographer and mixed media artist. Her background in printmaking, drawing, oil painting, set design, and modern dance gives her a unique look into her subjects.
Printmaking, very much like analog photography, is process and step oriented. Olivia first discovered her love of photography and the analog film development process by exploring mono-printing techniques on copper plates. Treating each photo like an etching brought new meaning to the way she looked at each individual photograph. Photographs became visual landscapes manipulated by the physical development in the darkroom.
To this day, Olivia holds the principles of analog development in all of her photography work. She aims to understand her subjects through the pursuit of showing process, time, and movement through each photograph.
Olivia’s background in modern dance brings an understanding and capturing of movement. She constantly strives to balance movement and stillness in her photographs to bring the viewer into the four-dimensional moments captured.
Olivia spends her free time making bagels, tending to her plants, and singing quietly to herself about the mundane things she does.
